Composition head with highly-characterized features to depict the "Popeye" character, exaggerated jaw, painted line-drawing features, wooden pipe, wooden blue sailor cap, one-piece composition elongated torso with painted classic Popeye costume, exaggerated musculature of wooden jointed arms, wooden legs with jointing at knees and hips, oversize orange wooden shoes. Marks: "King Features Syn. Inc,1935" (foot). Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Circa 1935, with Popeye tattoos on each arm, and a label from Chicago 1933 Century of Progress exhibition. Value Points: rare comic figure perfectly captures his cartoon illustrations.
