All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair, brown hair in swirling curls with feathered highlights, painted brown eyes with all-around curly lashes, brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, muslin body, oil-painted arms and legs with stitch-jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, bare feet, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Ella Smith Doll...Roanoke, Alabama (partly legible markings on torso). Comments: Ella Smith, circa 1915. Value Points: rare larger size with fine original painted finish. Included is vintage studio photograph of child holding an Ella Smith doll.
