Porcelain shoulderhead depicting young lady with brown sculpted hair drawn into a topknot and decorated with a garland of yellow flowers, painted brown eyes, closed mouth, demure expression, cloth body, porcelain lower limbs, painted black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: MDT 54. Comments: Martha Thompson, circa 1954, from her series of 19th century historical fashion dolls. Value Points: rare model by the celebrated artist, wearing superb silk costume by Martha Yeske who worked in close collaboration with Thompson in designing costumes. The doll was acquired by its present owner nearly 60 years ago from Mrs. Yeske and has remained in her possession until now.
