All-wooden figure with painted googly eyes and button-shaped nose, wide thin-line smiling expression, bald pate with carved wooden cap, jointing at shoulders and hips, flat-palm hands, cotton shirt, black felt pants, painted black shoes. Depicted is Happy Hooligan, the hobo comic strip character introduced by Frederick Opper in 1900 and presented as a King Features Syndicate until 1932. Excellent condition. American, Schoenhut, circa 1915.
