The set comprises four persons: Teddy Roosevelt with painted spectacles and wide grinning smile, moustache; member of the Safari group; female nurse; African native. Along with the following animals: giraffe, zebra, tiger, leopard, alligator, lion, hippopotamus, and rhinoceros (paint worn), each with glass eyes except lion. Excellent original condition on all but as noted. American, Schoenhut, the set was introduced by the firm in 1909, to commemorate Teddy Roosevelt's safari to Africa to collect specimens for the Smithsonian Museum.
