Amusing French Musical Automaton "The Fiddler Chef" by Roullet & Decamps from Au Nain Bleu

19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a blue velvet covered base is a bisque head lady by Jumeau with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, lushly-painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, lady-shaped torso and elongated legs, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1 (head) Au Nain Bleu (original paper label on base). Comments: Roullet et Decamps, circa 1890, when wound, music plays and the doll strums the fiddle-grill which she holds in her arms. Value Points: delightful amusing automaton, with original luxury store label, the doll is wearing original silk housemaid costume and cap, and functions well.
