13 . French Brown-Complexioned Bisque Bebe, Size 2, by Leon Casimir Bru with Boutique Label and Signed Bru Shoes
25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full cheeks, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, dimpled chin and philtrum, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, wearing pretty purple silk dress with lace trim, undergarments, socks, leather shoes, silk and lace frou-frou bonnet. Condition: generally excellent, tiny flake at corner of right eye, body is appropriate size and of the correct era albeit by Jumeau. Marks: A 12 T (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Andre Thuillier, circa 1886. Value Points: lovely angelic expression with fine creamy bisque, dramatically deep eyes, fine antique wig and bonnet.
