Each is a one-piece bust posed on pedestal base depicting a thoughtful young girl, serious in her work at hand; one with long flowing blonde curls, her head bent as she studies the ABC book in her hands, and the other with light brown hair having forehead bangs and long curls at the back tied with a yellow bow, her head bent toward the embroidery in progress which she is carefully stitching, each with sculpted costume, painted facial features, intaglio eyes. Generally excellent, stitching girl has professional restoration on one hand. Germany, circa 1900.

Pink-tinted bisque socket head, light brown sculpted hair in short tousled curls held by a pink bow at the crown, intaglio painted blue side-glancing eyes with pronounced large black pupils, white eye dots, black eyeliner, accented nostrils, closed mouth modeled wide open as though singing, composition and wooden fully-jointed body, wearing factory-original chemise. Condition: generally excellent, tiny flake hidden at base of neck (inside body). Marks: 6 7764 Heubach (sunburst) Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1910, the model is known as "The Singer" in reference to its distinctive facial model.
