With Just One Apple
July 10-11, 2021 in Annapolis, Maryland

Paul Cezanne, the celebrated French Post-Impressionist artist wrote, “With an apple I will astonish Paris”. And that he did. In the smaller world of dolls, one might also bestow that praise on Emile Jumeau who throughout his decades-long reign of the French doll world continued to astonish all with his imaginative designs. Notable among the Jumeau designs was the Series Fantastique introduced in 1892, coincidentally during the very peak of the Cezanne era, and notable among the models of that series was the virtually never-found 218, portrait of an astonished child. 8.5" x 11". 200 pages.
