Early Paper Mache Peddler Doll with Original Costume and Tray of Wares

15" (38 cm.) doll. 19" dome. Paper mache shoulderhead lady with wizened aged complexion, sculpted grey hair in looped curls around her ears and forming into a chignon at the back of head, painted features, spectacles, antique peddler costume, is posed with a large basket tray of wares including sewing notions, toys, household objects and more. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for the English trade, circa 1875. Value Points: rare doll model with aged portrayal and unique hair style, presented in original glass dome.
