French Bisque Portrait Poupee by Pierre-Francois Jumeau

24" (61 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Pierre-Francois Jumeau, circa 1875, this exhibition portrait poupee evolved into the early bebe with nearly identical portrait face. Value Pints: finest bisque with superb complexion and painting, sturdy original poupee body.
