Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass spiral threaded eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, antique silk gown, undergarments, blue leather slippers, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3 (head and shoulder) Passage Delorme...Simonne Paris (stamp on torso). Comments: French, circa 1870, included with the doll is her original trunk containing an extensive original trousseau including three additional costumes, vests, apron, mohair muff and cap, corset, and much more; the trunk has the original label of Nathan Hale, Leather Goods, Boston. Value Points: beautiful doll with her original wardrobe, from the original collection of Madeline Merrill, and shown in her book, The Art of the Doll, page 204, with the note that the doll was purchased for Carrie Elizabeth Day of Boston, born in 1866, and whose initials are on the side of the trunk.
