10" (25 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with oval-shaped face and elongated throat of adult woman,black enamel eyes,painted short lashes and feathered brows,accented nostrils,slightly parted lips with double row of teeth,black painted pate with hand-tied brunette hair,kid body with shapely torso and limbs,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent,body especially sturdy. Comments: French,circa 1850. Value Points: in beautifully preserved condition,the elegant lady is wearing her well-detailed original folklore costume of fine silks and laces,including embroidered lace coiffe and tulle sous- sleeves; the doll is featured in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls by Theimer,page 445.
