German Bisque Closed Mouth Child, 949, by Simon and Halbig

13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, blue glass spiral threaded eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SH 5 949. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1890. Value Points: most charming little girl with very dear expression, closed mouth, spiral threaded eyes, original body and body finish, costume includes lambswool collar, cap and muff, with leather shoes having silk rosettes.
