14 . German Porcelain Half-Doll "Flapper Lady Holding Polichinelle" in Original Pincushion Presentation
5 1/2" (14 cm.) Waist-up porcelain half-doll depicting 18th century lady with long flowing curls beneath a wide-brimmed yellow bonnet that is decorated with a rich cluster of Dresden flowers and a tall orange/yellow feather, sculpted blouse with low bodice, ruffled collar and cuffs, extended arms and holding a fan and a Dresden flower. Generally excellent, few tiny flakes on flowers. Germany, circa 1910, the model is an apt sculpture of the French artist, Mme Vigee-Lebrun inspired by her self-portrait of 1786.
