30" (76 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with black sculpted hair in unusual coiffure, having rows of horizontal curls at the sides of face with painted curly locks at the sides of forehead, the back arranged in so-called "waterfall" style with looped roll at the crown, painted brown eyes, single stroke brows, closed mouth, French kid body with shapely torso, mitten hands. Condition: original finish albeit faded, extensive craquelure at back shoulderplate. Comments: German head, the doll was created for the French market, circa 1840.
