An Important Marquis Antique Doll Auction Weekend March 16-17, 2019 in Naples, Florida

Daffadowndilly, The Johnson Collection and the Margaret Lumia Collection, Part Two • Saturday, March 16, 2019

Saturday, March 16, 2019 — A long, long Winter turns into Spring. And what symbolizes Spring more than the vibrant, zesty daffodil flower? A less known variation of that word is “Daffadowndilly”. the antique name for that flower, and the appropriate title of Theriault’s annual early Spring antique doll auction in Naples, Florida. The auction features several prominent collections including that of the late Paul Johnson of Kansas, Part II of the Landmark collection of Margaret Lumia, and others. The wonderful offerings include superb French dolls, notably choice examples by Bru and early portrait and premiere Jumeau bébés, and including a fine selection of French bisque poupées. German bisque dolls feature rare art characters as well as a multitude of hard-to-find googlies. There are mignonettes, Schoenhut circuses and Teddy Roosevelt, rare model porcelain dolls, and even #1 Barbie from an original family owner. A grand variety of 400 lots are offered in this wonderful Daffadowndilly doll auction event. As one collector said upon viewing the dolls, “I would have been elated to find even one of these dolls in a month, but here are 400 all at once. My only problem is choosing my favorites from the whole bouquet!” View schedule.
