Bisque socket head, large blue glass spiral-threaded eyes with darker blue outer iris rims, thick dark eyeliner, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth, shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, lovely ivory silk costume, undergarments, socks, aqua kidskin shoes signed E. Jumeau. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1878. Value Points: earliest period portrait bebe with gorgeous expression, dramatically-painted eye lashes, brows, and eyeshadow accenting the very delicate complexion, original body and body finish.

23" (58 cm.) h. x 10"l. x 12"d. The wooden sedan chair with domed roof and gracefully shaped back has shaped windows on three sides, and an opening front door. It is decorated with gesso appliqued scrolls with gilded details of finish, and on three sides has three different hand-painted courtly scenes in the Fragonard manner. The interior is lined with original burgundy brocade silk. Excellent condition. French, circa 1885.
