16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with upturned lip corners, shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, separately stitched fingers, square cut collarette. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E (head and shoulderplate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, the facial model was deposed by him in that year. Value Points: finest quality of bisque, complexion and painting on the gently-smiling lady, sturdy original body, lovely antique costume including gown, undergarments, bonnet, and leather ankle boots incised with script "B" in oval.
