Rare German Bisque Closed Mouth Doll Known as "A.T. Kestner"

27" (69 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, dark painted lashes, wide brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with modeled space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig in original ringlet curls, early composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 16X. Comments: Kestner, circa 1885, the model is known as "A.T. Kestner" as it so closely resembles the French bebe A.T, which was made at this same time. Value Points: rare model with especially beautiful gleaming complexion and finely-painted features, original body, antique costume.
