The final and perfected version of Jumeau's "E.J." bebe was his first bebe model deposed in French courts, and was highly perfected in its design and painting. This pressed bisque socket head bebe is an example. With very large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, lushly painted dark lashes, widely brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, spiral spring neck attachment, original composition and wooden fully jointed body with straight wrists. The doll wears antique costume comprising long white gown with exquisite lace and embroidery, undergarments, net stockings, blue shoes signed Paris Depose 3, tulle bonnet with silk bows. Signed "Depose E. 3 J" and artist's checkmarks on head, and "Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris" on torso. Emile Jumeau, circa 1885. 11" (28cm.).
