German Mechanical Waltzing Couple in Original Marquis/Marquise Costumes

A bisque head man and woman costumed as Marquis and Marquise are posed as though waltzing, each with bisque head, blue glass eyes, painted features, open mouth, tiny teeth, white mohair wig; she with carton floor-length cone-shaped skirt which encloses mechanism, wire upper arms, metal hands and feet. When wound, the couple revolve around as though dancing. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: O.F. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1880. Value Points: well-preserved mechanical toy is in fine original condition, wearing original silk and velvet costumes in the 18th century style.
