111 . Very Rare French Doll with Laminated Cloth Body Attributed to the Designs of Brouillet-Cacheleux
11" (28 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass spiral-threaded inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, delicately feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with square cut collarette indicative of Bru, gusset-jointing at hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1865, attributed to Leon Casimir Bru. Value Points: most endearing petite size, the dainty poupee has very choice bisque, near mint body, and is wearing her original blue silk gown with soutache embroidery, undergarments, bonnet, and little leather shoes signed "B".
