Rare Early Wax Peddler Doll with Articulated Wooden Body

10" (25 cm.) Wax head portraying an older lady with strong features and incised age lines,closed mouth,tiny bead eyes,on original carved wooden body with shapely torso,dowel-jointing at hips and knees,porcelain lower limbs with painted shoes and right hand sculpted to hold an object. Condition: generally excellent,small nose rubs,Comments: circa 1850,the body was more commonly found with porcelain head to match the limbs; this head is original and more rare to find. Value Points: wonderful doll with original peddler's costume and carrying large basket of tiny original sewing notions,and other baskets.
