13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with sculpted short brown hair featuring detailed forelock curls and defined with brushstrokes overall, painted pale blue eyes in deeply set sockets, black upper eyeliner, short feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, wearing antique velvet boy's suit with lace collar, leather ankle boots. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 153 S&H 4 1/2. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, from its very limited art character series of dolls, the model is known as "The Little Duke" and was made for one year only. Value Points: very rare doll with exemplary sculpting especially around eyes and lip corners, original body and body finish.
