5" (13 cm.) Waist-up porcelain lady with very slender torso, her face turned sharply to the side to accentuate the angular cut of her bobbed black hair with defined separation lines at the bangs, brown side-glancing eyes, gold earrings. She is posed with arms bent at the elbow and holding a masquerade mask. Marks: (blue bishop staff stamp). Excellent condition. Germany, Dressel, Kister, circa 1925, the model may have been inspired by the silent film actress, Louise Brooke, whose iconic and unique hair style was known as the "Lulu" bob. This seemingly minimalist half-doll has highly-sophisticated design enhanced by artistic blush.
