7" (18 cm.) The simple wooden toy features two hand-carved wooden birds posed atop a wooden platform with center bellows, with carved trees and flowers, and the bellows arrangement attached to a wooden platform with wooden wheels. When the bellows is squeezed, the birds seems to chirp and one bird vigorously bobs its head up and down, appearing to peck at the flower seeds of a large sunflower. Original hand-painted finish is well-preserved, and mechanism and squeak function well. Germany, mid-1800s.
