sculpted hair in soft waves away from her face and behind her sculpted ears,arranged curls at
center forehead and chignon at the back crown that is held by a sculpted black band,painted
blue eyes,red and black upper eyeliner,delicate one-stroke brows,aquiline nose,closed mouth
with center accent line,muslin stitch-jointed body with sewn-on stockings and leather
boots,leather arms,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa
1870. Value Points: superb detail of sculpting of rare coiffure in rare brown color,rare model.

13" (33 cm.) All-composition with socket head,sculpted short brown bobbed hair with bands and
sculpted head band,painted large brown side-glancing eyes,painted features,closed mouth with
bow-shaped lips,five-piece composition body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Effanbee

22" (56 cm.) All-cloth doll with flat-dimensional face having oil-painted complexion,hair and
facial features,shaded brown hair with scalloped curls framing the face,shaded blue eyes with
white eyedots,arched brows,outlined nose,closed mouth with outlined lips,stitch-jointing of arms
and legs. Condition: original finish with darkening of varnish,muslin torso is water-spotted.
Comments: Emma Adams who presented her cloth doll at the Chicago Columbian World
Exposition of 1893,where it was the first American doll to ever be awarded a Gold Medal,known
thereafter as the Columbian Doll. Value Points: rare doll was superbly-painted features in the
manner of American portrait painters of the late-19th century,original costume.
20" (51 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,large blue/grey glass
paperweight eyes with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,rose blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked
and feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and
outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with shapely
torso,gusset-jointing,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 5
(head and shoulder plate). Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa
1878. Value Points: a luxury-quality poupee from Jumeau with exceptionally beautiful
face,original elaborately arranged mohair wig with long ringlet curls and ribbon-threaded
braids,near mint body.
19" (48 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with oval face and elongated throat,blonde
sculpted hair waved softly at the sides of her face and captured into a sculpted black snood with
black edging and large bows at each side,painted blue downcast eyes,red and black upper
eyeliner,single stroke brows,accented nostrils,outlined closed mouth,muslin stitch-jointed
body,bisque lower arms,nice antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Germany,circa 1865. Value Points: rare model whose beautifully-detailed sculpted snood is
designed to appear prominently at front view of face as well as back of head.
11" (28 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult man with sculpted grey helmet having black brim and
yellow straps and emblem,and sculpted blue feather,brown sculpted hair,brows,wide curly
moustache and little goatee,painted brown eyes,tiny closed mouth,wooden block body and
carved hands and black painted boots. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3/3 -2/0.
Comments: Germany,circa 1870,maker unknown. Value Points: very rare doll with outstanding
sculpting of helmet.
