Sonneberg Bisque Closed Mouth Doll, Model 208, by Bahr and Proschild

19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, large blue glass spiral-threaded eyes, dark eyeliner, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with downcast lips, pierced ears, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish with some fingers rubbed. Marks: 208 10. Comments: Bahr and Proschild, circa 1885. Value Points: early closed mouth doll with wistful expression which contrasts the wide eyes, fine antique costume.
