A superb velvet fabric of very narrow-stripes in black and cream creates a grand effect in the seemingly-simple dress,having slightly-dropped waist,box-pleated front and back bodice,flat-front skirt with diagonal-cut fabric,very-full sleeves,Alencon lace diamond-point collar,lace trim on constructed cuffs and at the hem,and an ivory silk sash. Circa 1880.
