Bisque socket head with very plump lower cheeks and chin, almond-shaped pale blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading and darker blue outer rims, thick dark eyeliner, painted dark curly lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined and accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, all-wooden bebe body with shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, beautiful antique gold and ivory silk brocade dress with lavish lace trim, undergarments, knit stockings, wonderful bonnet and signed Bru shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (incised numbers on body). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his Bebe Modele, circa 1880, this was the earliest period facial model to be found on the rare doll. Value Points: an exceptionally beautiful example of the rare Bebe Modele, with wonderfully articulated body, choicest bisque and painting. Ex-collection June Ellen Lane.
