111 . Very Rare French Doll with Laminated Cloth Body Attributed to the Designs of Brouillet-Cacheleux
17" (43 cm.) Pressed felt socket head with finely-painted complexion, brown painted eyes with shaded detail in side-glancing expression, black upper eyeliner, brown eyeshadow, feathered brows, closed mouth with shaded pink lower lip, brunette side-parted mohair wig, all-cloth body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Poupees Raynal Paris (box). Comments: Raynal, Paris, circa 1930s, the Parisian atelier was inspired by the works of Lenci, which the dolls closely resemble. Value Points: pristine state of preservation with beautiful complexion, painting, wig, and wearing original black woolen suit with brass buttons, shirt, tie, socks, black leather shoes, and cap with brim decorated with brass anchor and braid, and with original labeled box.
