Two German Paper Mache Dolls in the Asian Influence

10" (25 cm.) Solid domed paper mache head with swivel head, very plump cheeks, narrow brown glass side-slanted eyes, rounded nose, closed mouth, taufling style body, wearing original Turkish style costume of green velvet and silk with metallic trim; along with paper mache tiny doll with enamel inset eyes, solid dome, shaded pate with black queue, swivel head, on original silk pincushion body. Condition: the larger is excellent and original except lower torso which is damaged, silk cover on pincushion is frail. Comments: Germany, circa 1880. Value Points: rare model with highly characterized facial features.
