length. The dropped-waist dress is composed of
alternating bands of a fine white cotton with
interwoven design and richly embroidered cut-work.
The cut-work is repeated at the yoke,forms short
sleevelets,and tiers of ruffles with diamond-point
edging from the hips. The design is repeated at
the back with button and loop closure,and fuller
gathering of the cutwork ruffles. Included is an
ivory silk satin bonnet with wide front
brim,decorated with silk faille ribbons and bows
and boa feather. Circa 1884.
